The more than $1 Trillion wealth transfer has already begun in Canada and many people are leaving some of that money to their children now – they may be helping them buy a home or fund education for grandchildren. Formal estate planning requires some key documentations – a will, a power of attorney and a health care directive for example. You’ll also need to designate an executor. But in addition, there are lots of tax consequences to think about.

Larry Frostiak provides business and tax advice to owner-managed enterprises, including financial and wealth management services to assist clients in building “tax-efficient” business and corporate structures. Larry also specializes in providing clients with estate and trust services. He is a founding partner of Frostiak & Leslie Chartered Professional Accountants Inc. and was elected a fellow of the Manitoba Institute of Chartered Accountants. He holds the FCPA, FCA, CFP, TEP, RWM™, FDFS™ credentials. He is also the bestselling author of Master Your Investment in the Family Business, published by Knowledge Bureau and a Member of Knowledge Bureau’s Faculty.
